This is the 4th cruise line for us, after Princess, Royal Caribbean, and the one which we took the Rasa Sayang which sank (not on our trip, lah). So far, the Princess Line was best. None of the others came close in facilities, comfort and service. Based on what we experienced on those particular ship we sailed on.
We went on the ms Zuiderdam's 7-day Glacier Discovery Inside Passage; or was it the 7-day Alaska Inside Passage? Both seem to be identical, and the Daily Programme sheets and Record of ship's log for the trip do not indicate exactly which one!
It was a circle trip with 3 port stops. Too few, in my opinion, to be on a small ship with limited facilities.
Our cabin (they call it a stateroom) was quite comfortably big just like that in the Emerald Princess.
However the balcony here (Zuiderdam) was terrible - small with only two chairs compared to 2 deckchairs, 2 chairs and a table in the Emerald Princess' balcony.
We had to fetch hot water from the cafe (or restaurant) in their cups like this because they do not provide hot drink flask or beverage cups with handles in staterooms.
Very inconvenient as we always want a cup of tea now and then.
Very spacious cupboards, with doors too; better than in the Emerald Princess.
Fridge packed full of drinks that cost a fortune to drink.
Tray for glasses, ice vessel and large bottle of mineral water (very exx) above fridge ie half of dressing table.
That's a takeaway bag from Beard Papa in Vancouver. Just as good as originals in Japan.
